Mounting Board

Mounting Board

Our museum standard art mounting boards are not only acid-free, they are entirely free from impurities, including lignin and other harmful properties that are found in ordinary ‘pulp’ mount board. We recommend that pure-grade 100% cotton mount boards are used for art & photography mounting, with an 8-ply thickness to lend maximum stability. These mounting boards come in a range of neutral tones - be wary of brightly coloured mount boards which have been treated with acidic paints and dyes as this can cause long-term damage to your artwork. Our technicians also take into account the type of artwork surface, and advise accordingly. For example, certain photographic processes react with alkaline-based materials, so in those circumstances it is important to use non-buffered art mounting board as it has a lower PH level.
