Fine Art Conservation
With state of the art facilities and knowledge of both traditional and contemporary conservation techniques, our conservation department offer a unique and dedicated collection care service.
Our experts specialise in conserving and preserving works of art on paper and board. These include paintings, drawings, photographs, prints, pastels, paper based sculptures and installations.
We work closely with a number of accredited external conservators specialising in sculpture, easel paintings, gilded frames and time-based media. As such, John Jones is able to provide comprehensive support for a varied fine art collection.
Preventing damage to artwork is sometimes possible by making a few simple changes to a presentation and storage solutions. For instance, replacing acidic mount board for acid-free or buffered mount board can save avoid the need for conservation treatments in the future. Art preservation techniques and materials have advanced greatly in the last ten years, providing support for the ever-developing modern artistic practice. Please visit out collection care pages for more information on storage and how a site visit from our Conservation team could assist in protecting your collection,.
