Stroud Green Summer of Love - free art talk at John Jones this Saturday
14 June 2017
This weekend sees our local area of Stroud Green Road celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love and #ShopStroudGreen are holding a peace, love and togetherness themed weekend of local shopping, activities, workshops pop-ups and free stuff.
John Jones are delighted to host a talk by art historian Barry Venning - ‘Summer of Love: Art, Music and Photography’ on Saturday 17th from 2-3pm. The talk takes place in our ground floor reception area and is free to attend (afterwards pop into Walnut Dining, the new restaurant in The Arts Building for a spot of lunch!)
An array of local independent shops up and down the high street will be throwing open their doors with weekend special offers, tastings, demos, creative workshops and in-store pop-ups featuring local artists and designers. Shoppers will also be able to take part in a prize trail - grab a map from participating shops and collect stickers from at least 10 of the shops featured on the map and pick up a free alcoholic or non alcoholic drink from your choice of one of a number of generous participating local businesses including The Deli at 80, La Fabrica, Walnut and The World’s End. Up and down the road artists will be inviting passersby to get involved and show their creativity, with live art and workshops making peace and love birds and beautiful signs with chalk. Join the cider, beer and gin tastings, discover the hidden history of the neighbourhood on local walk, plus elect a Mayor of Stroud Green and join in a newly revived drinking song.
