John Jones Project Space inaugural artist Teresa Gillespie exhibits at Wexford Arts Centre
12 January 2015
below explanation (clocks stop at 3pm and existence continues), an exhibition of new work by John Jones Project Space inaugural artist and recipient of the Wexford Arts Centre Emerging Visual Artist Award 2013, Teresa Gillespie, runs from 12th January - 7th February at Wexford Arts Centre.
Teresa Gillespie’s new exhibition continues her exploration of the tension between containment and continuity which she considered during her show, return to the borderland bends, at John Jones that launched our new Arts Building’s Project Space in June of last year.
Prompted by her extended engagement with film critic Vivian Sobchack’s paper The Passion of the Material, the new work has emerged alongside re-reading the modernist novel Nausea by Jean-Paul Sartre. Her new installation, incorporating primarily sculpture and video, plays with an ambiguity between attraction and repulsion, and the process of enfolding and unfolding.
