London based artist Nick Goss is set to showcase six new paintings for Josh Lilley Gallery’s booth at NADA, Miami Beach, from 4th – 7th December.
NADA runs parallel with Art Basel Miami Beach and is well known for showing new or underexposed art from the world’s youngest art galleries.
The six works by Nick Goss were produced between late Summer and Autumn 2014 using John Jones professional quality large section stretchers.
Nick Goss discusses his new works here: “At the centre of my work is a depiction of space as both a physical and psychological phenomenon. In the recent past I have persisted with imagery observed during walks through my local area of North East London. I have drawn from photography and memory of spaces encountered on the streets of Dalston. A bird cage hanging in a local Turkish barber shop, an engorged palm pressed against the window of a Caribbean funeral parlour, a patch of exotic bird wallpaper - incidental details and objects through which the past shines. These subjects and motifs are then allowed to gestate and disintegrate on the larger canvasses creating a psychological space.”
Nick Goss will also be presenting a solo show in 2015 at Josh Lilley Gallery. Visit the gallery website for more information on their programme.
