John Jones provides artist surfaces for Derren Brown’s new exhibition at Rebecca Hossack Gallery
04 November 2014
Illusionist Derren Brown has turned away from the paranormal to showcase his lesser known talent of hyper realist portraiture painting and photography, in order to pursue his fascination with the poetic in the everyday.
Rebecca Hossack Gallery’s Conway Street exhibition space will be showcasing a range of Derren Brown’s extraordinary works from 7th – 29th November. The exhibition is set to include a new, well considered, self-portrait, a Six-foot study of Dame Maggie Smith and for the first time a collection of his street photography.
Derren stated in Artists & illustrators magazine, November 2014 – “Art all boils down to little tricks and makings things look real when they are not … that’s where the worlds of Art and Magic really cross.”
John Jones provide Derren Brown with a special mix of Berge acrylic linen canvases, primed in 2 layers of Gesso, for his detailed portraits. The canvases are ideal for his painting style which requires a slightly absorbent smooth surface. Our artist grounds are primed in a specialist spray booth using the highest quality Lascaux primers to Derren Brown’s chosen specification.
John Jones artist surfaces consultants are on hand to offer the best advice on which materials to use to suit your painting style, many of whom are practicing artists and craftspeople themselves.
