John Jones provides Artist Surfaces for Danny Rolph’s November Exhibitions
13 November 2014
Danny Rolph’s solo exhibition, Paradiso, continues to 15th November at Barbara Davis Gallery in Houston, Texas. Nine new and impressive large scale canvas works, and 16 smaller paintings produced on John Jones artist surfaces have been on display since 11th October. They have gained much acclaimed in the press, especially the highlight of the exhibition, Dragster 5. Read a review in the Houston Press here.
Danny Rolph comments - ‘I used John Jones canvases and stretchers for all the work in my current show, paradiso, at Barbara Davis gallery, Houston, as they are of the highest quality which enables me to focus on the painting and not on my average woodworking skills!’
Danny Rolph is also exhibiting in a range of interesting group shows this November. The first at Updown Gallery in Kent titled, The social bases of Abstraction, that is set to close on 15th November. The second, which we highly recommend viewing, is at The Place Downstairs in Islington, which is set to run for one month from 13th November. The exhibition, Derive, explores a range of issues and strategies employed by four non-representational painters today. The works of Angela de la Cruz, Aimee Parrott, Howard Dyke and Danny Rolph are placed in direct conversation with each other to question their approach to painting.
Both Howard Dyke’s and Danny Rolph’s works are held in the John Jones collection, and our team are looking forward to seeing their new pieces. For more information on John Jones’ art collection please click here.
The canvases we provide for Danny Rolph are the highest quality acrylic primed cotton duck, which unlike standard canvas, is less likely to degrade if stored correctly. The canvas is available by the roll or by the metre in a variety of weights, grains and finishes.
His stretcher bars are made of conservation grade tulip wood which is kiln dried to provide a sturdy base for painting that will not split when stapled. John Jones stretchers come in both wood and aluminium.
