Delfina Foundation launch crowd funding page to raise £15,000 for exhibition next Summer
01 October 2014
John Jones are great admirers of the Delfina Foundation, an independent, non-profit foundation dedicated to facilitating artistic exchange and developing creative practice through residencies, partnerships and public programming, with a special focus on international collaborations with the Greater Middle East & North Africa. To date the Foundation has hosted over 100 residencies, providing key support for artists at pivotal moments in their careers. Their latest initiative is to explore the history of Arab performance art and to produce a major exhibition in London next summer.
“Since Arab performance art has historically been embedded within theatre, dance, and visual arts, its evolution has not been as understood - or visible - compared to other cultures. As performance art becomes more popular internationally, it is time to share the little known history of Arab performance art with the world and to also provide a major platform for contemporary artists working today. In addition to creating a career-defining opportunity for the those involved, we want to create an invaluable resource for future artists, academics, critics and audiences with your help.”
To raise the £15,000 needed, Delfina Foundation has announced the launch of their first crowd funding campaign . The project has been selected by an independent jury to be part of the Art Basel Crowd funding Initiative and is featured on Art Basel's curated page on Kickstarter. To find out more click here…
