John Jones Design Consultant, Tim Blake, judges V&A #MyHorstPhoto competition

John Jones Design Consultant, Tim Blake, is this week’s guest judge for the Victoria & Albert Museum #MyHorstPhoto Instagram competition. Tim designed a selection of over 300 beautifully bespoke frames for the current Horst: Photographer of Style retrospective at the Victoria & Albert Museum in a range of gesso, colour wash and gilt finishes. After several months of working closely on this project with a private collector and curators of the V&A exhibition, and as a fine art and photography enthusiast, Tim was delighted to be asked to judge the #MyHorstPhoto weekly competition.

Tim describes his choice here: “I scrolled through all of the images again and again and I was tempted by several really inviting images. Some images of seduction with a touch of dare, and some surreal images questioning the why. Seduction and surreal, to me, are how I think of Horst and his genius. My chosen photograph really captures both ‘s’s with its own mystery and I can imagine how the composition would be arranged and rearranged and built upon. I love work by the artists Francesca Woodman and Idris Khan and right now, this image has relevance to both, and overall I would love to think Horst would relish the composition too.”

Tim’s winner will be announced by the Victoria & Albert Museum later this afternoon so keep your eyes peeled! The lucky winner of Photo of the Week will receive an exhibition tote bag and a pair of tickets to Horst: Photographer of Style.
