John Jones had the pleasure of working with Hew Locke on this exhibition providing dry mounting and framing for a selection of Hew Locke’s painted c-type photographs. Our technicians chose to mount the photographs on 1.5mm aluminium, an inert material which will not release harmful gasses into the works of art which cause degradation over time. Each work was presented using a hand toned window mount protected by a barrier of 2ply micro chamber paper, and was fitted into square poplar wood profiles which were glazed with ultra violet light protective Perspex. Each frame was soft sanded along the edges and sprayed with three coats of a white shade which was mixed on site for the perfect colour match.
The frame design selected to present Hew Locke’s works are built with the highest possible standards in mind, even down to the smallest detail, and have many conservation benefits. More information on our framing solutions can be found here.
We are lucky to have some of Hew Locke’s works in the John Jones collection. Read more about his past projects with John Jones here.
