Degree Shows 2014
12 May 2014
A new pool of talented young graduates is set to showcase the culmination of their hard work over the coming weeks. The students have been preparing for years, holding these events in much anticipation. The long nights researching in the studio and the frustration of the blank page have long since passed and now it’s time to celebrate their achievements.
Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design starts the London shows by previewing their undergraduate and postgraduate fine art, photography, and research based degrees students' works from 23rd May. Many students taking part in this exhibition will not have studied at CSM Charing Cross and Southampton Row spaces; they will have become accustomed to the new Granary Building’s vast amounts of concrete and glass.
UCL’s Slade follow CSM displaying their BA shows from 24th – 29th May. If you happen to be in the Euston/Kings Cross area the weekend of the 24th we recommend a visit to both shows to see the best upcoming talent to pick out the names of future rising stars.
Another show to watch out for is Free Range at Brick Lane’s Old Truman Brewery for which many students from universities across the country will exhibit their works to a new London audience.
As the art world prepares to calm down for the summer make sure you visit Goldsmith’s and Chelsea College of Art and Design from mid to late June where past graduate shows have presented some of the more innovative, forward thinking fine art.
