Michael Craig-Martin Exhibits at Chatsworth
08 April 2014
John Jones client, Michael Craig-Martin, is showcasing a major display of Contemporary Sculpture at Chatsworth until 29th June.
For his interventions in the grounds of Chatsworth, he has translated the line drawings into space using fabricated steel. The 12 sculptures vividly depict everyday objects such as pitchforks, wheelbarrows, and umbrellas, and they playfully juxtapose the modern material with the beautiful landscaped gardens of the 17th century house.
Chatsworth is the home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and houses one of Europe’s most significant art collections. Lord and Lady Burlington, the son and daughter-in-law of the 12th Duke of Devonshire, initiated the exhibition as they have long been supporting Michael Craig-Martin and in 2011 he was commissioned to create a portrait of Lady Burlington which is also on display in the historic house.
John Jones have developed a long standing relationship with Michael Craig-Martin, creating bespoke frame designs which compliment his bold works.
