Derwent Art Prize – Open Call for Works Created in Pencil

The Cumberland Pencil Company has announced the second Derwent Art Prize open call, and a prize fund totalling £12,650 will be awarded to British and international artists with works created in pencil. Artists can submit up to 6 pieces, created with any charcoal, pastel, graphite, water-soluble and coloured pencils on any 2 or 3 dimensional support.
The prizes include; a first prize of £6,000, second prize of £3,500, third prize of £1,000, the two People’s Choice Award both of £700, the UKCPS Award for Excellence of £250, and the Young Artist Award of £500.
A distinguished panel of selectors will judge the submissions including; Kate Macfarlane, Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Drawing Room, Josh Spero, Editor of Spears Magazine and Art Critic for Tatler UK, and Professor Anita Taylor, artist, Co-Founder and Director of Jerwood Drawing Prize and Dean of Bath School of Art and Design.
The exhibition of shortlisted works will be displayed 15th – 20th September at the Mall Galleries, and will travel to The Pencil Museum in Cumbria 1st December – 9th January.
Deadline for entries is 9th June.
