Sotheby’s Auction 1st April - Made In Britain

Sotheby’s are celebrating quality Modern and Contemporary artworks which are, Made In Britain, for their upcoming auction on 1st April. The auction house will showcase 243 lots including the best of British artists' sculptures, photographs, prints and paintings.

Great British female sculptors hold the highest estimates; Dame Elizabeth Frink DBE RA 1963, Horsehead, and Dame Barbara Hepworth 1958, Maquette (variation on a theme), estimates range from £30,000 – £50,000.

The auction offers an interesting array of photographs and portraits of artists and includes lot 7 which consists of four signed vintage silver prints by Harry Diamond. One (pictured above) captures Francis Bacon and Lucien Freud together in Soho in 1973, the others document Peter Blake, Gilbert and George and Sir William Coldstream.

Sotheby’s are also auctioning fine photographs by Bill Brandt, David Bailey and Terry O’Neil, as well as works by household names, such as Richard Hamilton, Victor Pasmore and Frank Auerbach. This selection of esteemed artists’ works sets, Made In Britain, up to be another exciting instalment in Sotheby’s 2014 auction calendar.
