Open Call for Frieze Artist Award 2014
05 March 2014
The acclaimed Frieze Projects have launched a brand new initiative for 2014 entitled Frieze Artist Award. Both UK and international Artists, with an inclination towards installation and performance art, are invited to propose new work that responds in a thought provoking way to the experience of the art fair.
The deadline for submissions is 10th March and the winner’s work will be presented at the highly regarded Frieze London fair in 2014. The award furthermore includes a £10,000 production budget, £5,000 to cover research and development costs, and an artist fee of £2,000 plus travel expenses.
Past awards initiated by the non-profit organisation Frieze Projects are; the Emdash Award from 2011 to 2013, and the Cartier sponsored Award from 2006 to 2010. The inaugural Artist Open Call initiative coincides with Frieze Live, another new edition for 2014, which focuses on performative and interactive works. Both projects are fine examples of how art fairs are exploring new ways to expand from the traditional gallery booth format with innovative curated programmes.
Submissions for the 2014 Frieze Artist Award are to be completed online only.
