Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize 2014 at the Mall Galleries
04 March 2014
Some of the most exciting examples of British draughtsmanship will be on show at Mall Galleries from 17 - 22 March 2014. The competition was set up by The Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers and The Lynn Foundation nine years ago with the hope to promote creative representational painting and the often under-appreciated skill of draughtsmanship.
80-100 works from both new and established artists will be selected from a record-breaking 1,400 submissions by a panel of highly distinguished figures in the art world. Judges this year will include Steve Pill, Andrew Wilton, and artists Peter Clossick, Ken Howard and Paul Newland. Highlights so far have been Ruth Stage’s ‘The Isabella Plantation’ and John Hainsworth’s ‘Memories of Malevich III’ which will be on sale along with the rest of the works.
A total of £25,000 of prize winnings will be awarded, making the prize one of the most prestigious awards for artists in Britain. The winner will receive a specially designed and engraved gold medal as well as £15,000, five runners up will receive £1,500 each and £2,500 will go to the Young Artist Award winner. The announcements will be made on 17 March at a private preview and ceremony at the Mall Galleries.
