East London Printmakers Courses this Spring
05 March 2014
Non-profit voluntary organisation, East London Printmakers, has been cultivating creative potential in individuals and communities for the last 16 years. In a dynamic and professionally-led environment, the studio offers an exciting programme of open access sessions, workshops and artist in residence schemes in order to educate and promote artistic practice.
For beginners, this spring there is an excellent opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Matisse and Picasso by learning the essentials of lino cutting. Over the space of two days or three evenings from just £105, attendees will be supplied with all the necessary equipment to design and cut their own block of lino, advised by experience tutor, Chris Pig.
Likewise, over two days in March or three evenings in August, intermediate screen printers can hone their skills with Helen Ashton. Attendees will have a basic understanding of how to prepare screens and print, and will build upon these skills with techniques associated with preparing digital artwork and multi-layered prints. There will be an emphasis on technical knowledge for e.g. CMYK printing, duotones, halftones, overprints and varnishes.
