‘RE-’ Gala Dinner

‘RE-’ Gala Dinner

Each year the Contemporary Art Society organises a major fundraising gala dinner and auction, which raises vital funds to purchase new works of contemporary art for museums in the UK. The 2014 gala, ‘RE-‘, takes place on 11th March at the spectacular Tobacco Dock in London. Exploring ideas of re-imagining, re-creating, re-using, re-thinking and re-cycling, ‘RE-‘ focuses on new and dynamic ways that we are looking to the past in anticipation of the dawn of a new era.

Reinforced by the Contemporary Art Society’s reputation for identifying the art stars of the future, the gala auction offers guests the opportunity to purchase works by internationally renowned artists and by more emerging names known only by art world insiders. This year’s gala auction is auctioneered by Sotheby's Deputy Chairman Lord Harry Dalmeny.

Already confirmed for inclusion in the auction are works by Caroline Achaintre, David Austen, Charles Avery, Simon & Tom Bloor, Alice Channer, Angela de la Cruz, Matt Darbyshire, Haris Epaminoda, Roger Hiorns, Tania Kovats, Michael Landy, Haroon Mirza, Toby Paterson, Mick Peter, Olivia Plender, 2012 Turner Prize winner Elizabeth Price, Fiona Rae, Michal Rovner, Samara Scott, Daniel Silver, Caragh Thuring, Rose Wylie, Catherine Yass, an editioned work from 2013 Turner Prize winner Laure Prouvost, and many more.

Other lots include a bespoke dinner for ten at artist Gary Hume's legendary studio space cooked by Michelin star chef Giorgio Locatelli, as well as a commissioned portrait by artist Sarah Jones.

The Honorary Chair of the 2014 gala is Livia Firth, and the Event Ambassadors are Jeremy Deller, Fiona Rae, Bob and Roberta Smith, John Stezaker and Gavin Turk. Sponsors include Goldlake, Hine Cognac, Lavazza, Lexington Partners, Pol Roger and Sotheby's.
