Bailey’s Stardust at the National Portrait Gallery

Bailey’s Stardust at the National Portrait Gallery

Highly anticipated exhibition 'Bailey's Stardust' opens at the National Portrait Gallery on 6th February. David Bailey is regarded as one of the world’s most distinguished and distinctive photographers, and for this exhibition he presents a thematic overview of personally selected portraits. 250 works showcase his extraordinary range of sitters and unique talent to study a subject and capture their character perfectly, and David Bailey immortalises actors, models, artists and musicians from Kate Moss, to a personal favourite, Francis Bacon.

After starting his career serving in the RAF, David Bailey turned to more creative outlets. He became a freelance fashion photographer at Vogue during the swinging 60’s where he developed his timeless approach to documenting a subject effortlessly. He has been awarded the Royal Photographic Society Centenary Medal and Honorary Fellowship and a CBE for his services to art.
