Paris Prix COAL 2014 - Call for entries
11 December 2013
Since 2010 the COAL Prize for Art and Environment has recognised ten projects linked to environmental issues by contemporary artists annually. One of the selected ten is awarded the COAL prize of 10,000 Euros to facilitate the realisation of their project, and the 2014 international call for artists is now open to projects focusing on Paris! Submissions are required to be new or still in progress, and can be entered until midnight on February 10th 2014.
COAL, the coalition for art and sustainable development, is supported by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, the French Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development and the National Centre of Plastic Arts. Their aim for the prize in 2014 is for artists to respond to the widespread current environmental issues that directly affect Paris, including pollution, urban sprawl and adaptation to climate change. By funding this prize they encourage people to think creatively about ecology in order to find solutions to environmental problems.
At John Jones we are always looking to improve upon our use of sustainable materials and reduce our carbon footprint, and believe that prizes like COAL which encourage artists to think creatively about these issues are worth supporting.
