Dylan Lewis Sale at Christie’s
23 September 2013
Dylan Lewis, Trans-Figure XXI (Berkeley Square, London).
A Private Sale of sculptures by the renowned South African artist Dylan Lewis is currently being held at Christie’s auctioneers. The Untamed Series includes 29 of the artist's striking bronze wildlife sculptures which explore man’s coexistence with animals and nature.
Lewis, who was born into a family of artists, has had a fascination with the South African wilderness since the beginning of his career when he started producing unrivalled representations of big cats. Since then, his method of sketching from life and casting in bronze has remained virtually unchanged, creating forms that are muscular, powerful and dynamic.
To accompany the sale a selection of five sculptures have been installed at London's Berkeley Square for public view, carefully curated to 'challenge the viewer’s perception of themselves and their relationship to the wild'.
Private Sales at Christie’s have been an integral part of their service since 1766 and provide a valuable opportunity to gain one-to-one, tailored advice from a specialist. Lewis’ remarkable sculptures are available to view by appointment until 20th December.
