20/21 British Art Fair
04 September 2013
With an unrivalled specialism in Modern and Post War British art, 20/21 British Art Fair is among the most highly anticipated dates in the British art collectors’ calendar. From 11th – 15th September at the Royal College of Art, aptly described as ‘the spiritual home of British Art’, 56 of London’s leading dealers will exhibit an eclectic selection of some of Britain’s best art from early 20th century to the present day. Artists showcased will include Edward Burra, John Craxton, Henry Moore, Banksy among countless others, many of whom are former students of the college.
The fair was established in 1988 with the premise of expanding appreciation for British art beyond the more obvious names such as Henry Moore and Lucien Freud. By utilising the wealth and depth of knowledge of specialist dealers, the fair was able to provide an expansive variety of artworks ranging from drawing to sculpture, and from work by lesser known artists to greats such as Francis Bacon. Almost a quarter of these dealers are still loyal to the fair and will exhibit for their 26th year, many of whom, such as Messum’s, William Weston Gallery and Caroline Wiseman Modern Art are also long-standing clients of John Jones.
Andrew Lambirth at The Spectator described the event as ‘The only art fair I make an effort not to miss’. Join him and other loyal attendees by heading to the official opening by Hattie Morahan.
