Florence Trust Artist Residency 2013-2014

Florence Trust Artist Residency 2013-2014

The annual Florence Trust Artist Residency invites eleven artists to participate in a yearlong studio residency programme, running from August 2013 to July 2014. All artists are granted 24 hour access to a generous studio space within the Trust’s Grade-1 listed, neo-gothic church - a truly inspirational venue. Participants are given the opportunity to exhibit in the Trust’s two annual exhibitions in January and July and will also be featured in a full-colour catalogue which profiles each artist’s practice and includes a text by an independent arts writer / curator. This exciting residency is supported by a framework of staff who conduct one-on-one sessions with each artist to offer advice on artistic development, applying for grants, seeking commercial sponsorship, interview and presentation skills and working within the London gallery scene. Unlike many residencies in which a singular artist works alone, the Florence Trust programme is an opportunity for eleven carefully selected emerging and pro-active artists to build a strong network between one another and offer support and advice through regular peer-to-peer meetings. The cost of the studio residency is £220/£250 per calendar month, which includes all bills and insurance and is a competitive market price for a studio of this size. This is the ideal opportunity for recent graduates looking for structured feedback, artists that want to refine their practice before applying for an MA and for those who have recently moved to London and are hoping to make valuable connections.

Apply before 3rd June!
