Eleanor Meredith - A Record of Wishful Thinking

A Million Minutes is a two year arts focused regeneration programme for Archway and Finsbury Park funded by Islington Council and the Arts Council England. The programme consists of three strands entitled ‘Windows’, ‘Spaces’ and ‘Hostings’, designed to support creative work which is sensitive to the histories and cultures of the local area. ‘Windows’ and ‘Spaces’ sees empty shop fronts brought to life by permanent and temporary public art works, exhibitions and performances. One of the latest pieces to come out of the project is ‘A Record of Wishful Thinking’ by Eleanor Meredith. Eleanor collected wishful thoughts from passers-by which she illustrated in a stop-frame animation, constructed by painting directly onto the windows of 36 Junction Road during March 2013.

"My time in 36 Junction Road has been so positive. Thank you to everyone who contributed their wishful ideas. The ideas surprised me, they ranged from personal and playful. The view out the window was a challenge and genuinely exciting as it changed so frequently, and the animation process has been demanding working on this scale." Eleanor Meredith
