Alice Gur-Arie, Untouchables, 2013
This May, South London’s ASC Gallery will host a captivating 16 image photography series depicting a land previously only ventured into by director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labrynth).
Alice Gur-Arie’s Merlin’s Forest is an interpretation of an enchanted land littered with white flowers, back-lit trees and mysterious wizardry. Using larger canvases than before, and photography as her starting point, Alice ensues to “challenge our creative predispositions and, most importantly, evoke a viewer response that comes from the head as well as the heart”.
Having recently been nominated for the prestigious Terry O'Neill Tag Photography Award, Alice has previously covered subjects including city, land and seascapes, as well as people. The focus this time is very much on nature, and the magic it contains to us all, through childhood and beyond.
The photographs can be viewed by the public from 24th – 31st May, 2013.
