The Legacy Corporation is inviting artists to propose exciting work for display in the North Park of the London Olympic village! The LLDC (London Legacy Delivery Corporation) is responsible for the long-term planning, development and operation of the Park and the regeneration of the surrounding areas in east London. As part of their Arts and Culture strategy, a collection of diverse artworks will be installed at the park between August and October 2013 to ensure that creativity is ‘at the heart of this new piece of city so that it becomes a destination of international distinction’. The Park will begin to be opened to the public in July 2013 and will host a series of exciting events including music concerts and sport. The new artworks will inspire visitors to the park and should be durable enough to withstand the elements for several months. Between £10,000 and £50,000 will be allocated to cover the cost of materials, fabrication and installation and only artworks with an ‘after life’ in place will be considered (this can be in the form of recycling or a plan to exhibit the works elsewhere from October onwards). Artists must have five or more years of demonstrable experience as a professional artist showcasing work in high profile public art projects. Apply before Monday 22nd April for the chance to be selected!
