John Jones Art on Paper Award Judges Confirmed
14 March 2013
We are delighted to announce that the judges for the John Jones 2013 Art on Paper Award have now been confirmed!
Mat Collishaw is an internationally recognised artist now represented by Blain Southern gallery in London. Central to his work are the themes of illusion and desire, which he uses to draw us into an arena where every-day conventions are broken down and questioned.
Jean-Marc Prévost acted as Curator of the Direction des musées in Marseilles in 1991 and Director of Musée départemental d’art contemporain in Rochechouart in 1992. He became Head of artistic creation at the Ministry of Culture’s Délégation of Fine Arts in 2002 and is now head of Carré d’art, the contemporary art museum in Nîmes.
Nada Raza is an independent curator and writer and is also adjunct curator for Green Cardamom. She was on the selection panel for the Gasworks residency in 2010 and currently works as a writer and curator at Tate Modern in London.
The judges will each take time to view the entries into the prize independently before meeting to deliberate their findings and select a winner. Their final decision will be announced to the press at Art Dubai on 20th March. The chosen artist will receive a solo exhibition during Art Dubai 2014, a £5000 cash prize and their work will be acquired for the John Jones contemporary art collection. The award aims to recognise the potential for excellence in fine art made on paper and provide further opportunities for artists working on this surface.
An exhibition of new work by the winners of the 2012 John Jones Art on Paper Award will take place at Satellite 19th – 23rd March, 2013. Join us at the private view 18th March 6-9pm for the chance to meet the artists!
