We have been working with creative membership Love Art London to organise exciting studio visits with some of London’s most inspiring contemporary artists. Our next event will take place on Wednesday 29th August 6:30 – 8:00pm with John Jones client Richard Galpin, an artist who explores architectural themes and has exhibited at Hales Gallery, the Courtauld and the British Museum among other established institutions. Richard’s creative process begins by photographing a chaotic cityscape. Then, using a scalpel, he ‘intricately scores and peels away the emulsion from the surface of the photograph to produce a new radical revision of the urban form in the original photograph’. The new work sits somewhere between a photograph, a sketch, a collage and an architectural plan. This working process simultaneously creates and destroys to construct completely unique pieces with a beautiful and thought-provoking result.
Richard has invited an intimate group of art enthusiasts into his private studio near Borough underground station in London to see this process in action, discover the artist’s inspirations and see his stunning work in the flesh.
