Thank you to everyone who attended our private view of ‘Figurines and Asteroids’ by Helen Kincaid! The gallery space was a hive of art enthusiasts, and attendees had the opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine, meet the artist and view the collection in the flesh. With the exception of one painting, the entire series on display has been produced for this exhibition, based on the ideas and techniques which won Helen the painting award at the 2011 Salon Art Prize. Using found photographs sourced predominantly from Ebay, Helen has created a unique body of work which captures figures and fragments no longer of use, ready to be cast aside or hurtling through space into obliteration. Using a minimal amount of paint and a muted colour palette, the paintings capture moments which are simultaneously just appearing and disappearing from view, and are filled with poignant melancholy. This exhibition continues in the John Jones gallery until Friday 27th July, and is open for public viewing. To request a press release or price list, please email marketing@johnjones.co.uk
