03 January 2012
From 11-21 January 2012, Ovalhouse is presenting the 33% London Festival, celebrating young talent across the arts. The festival takes its name from the fact that 33% of Londoners are under the age of 26. Now in its fifth year, the event will showcase high quality theatre, dance, spoken word and fine art. In the Theatre Downstairs, the 33% Drama Company will present ‘The Grandfathers’, a play by Rory Mullarkey and directed by Toby Clarke which combines movement, puppetry and text to explore the comradeship of teenage conscripts in a futile war. This will be followed by the premiere of SKEEN! This is the debut play by young writer Tristan Fynn-Aiduenu which challenges how young people are represented. 33% London will also feature live acoustic music, a spoken word night held by The Roundhouse’s poetry collectives Rubix & Elephant and a specially commissioned art exhibition of work inspired by plays of ‘Around the House’ in the Ovalhouse gallery.
