Flo Pullin

We are delighted to announce Flo Pullin as the next artist to have a solo show in the Projection gallery at John Jones, opening on November 4th from 6-8pm. Flo will be exhibiting her intimate series of collages showing detailed pencil works abstracted by interruptions of florescent colours.

 Flo Pullin

Flo Pullin’s work stems from an exploration of the primary practice of drawing. The more formal elements of the work reference a traditional approach using the core drawing materials of pencil on paper. Elements of bright collage, fluorescent paint, and sharp pen lines then interrupt, abstract and obstruct otherwise tranquil scenes within a tiny microcosm on the paper.

Pullin’s references are mainly autobiographical, alongside Old Master paintings and landscapes to personal experiences and modern architecture. Largely instinctive, the work takes on an organic, spontaneous life-of-its-own and is thus personified in its title. Her practice is also an investigation and appreciation of the practice of drawing, referencing traditional drawing techniques and media as well as a playful and nonsensical challenging of conventional aesthetics.
