John Jones and Homes & Gardens

John Jones is delighted to have been working in collaboration with interior designer Katrin Cargill and artist Clare Ormerod to produce a feature for the June 2010 edition of Homes and Gardens. We became involved when Katrin was reminded of a frame we made for Elle Decoration and felt this concept would work well for Clare’s pieces. Clare’s six unique works are presented in tulip wood frames, finished with cream coloured gesso sides and a burnished and warm, gold leaf face. The frames were shot on a dark aqua blue wall and hung over an Ostrich leather console table created by Edelman Leather, both of which are featured in our installation. On display at our Collection Space throughout May 2010. For more information email: marketing@johnjones.co.uk Read More

The splendour of the surroundings has been reflected in the frame designs, many of which were hand gilded. They are featured throughout the store as well as in the new integrated restaurant, Ralph's. Guests including Jean Reno, Karl Lagerfeld and Gérard Depardieu turned out to celebrate the opening of the Ralph Lauren store which is their largest in Europe.  Read More

An evening panel discussion with Bronwen Buckeridge, Laura Buckley, Laura Morrison and Amy Stephens at the John Jones Project Space led by Sam Thorne, editor of Frieze.com will take place on 1st September from 7-9pm The discussion will approach the ideas behind the show and its primary reference to Francois Truffaut's 'La Nuit Americaine,' 1973, which tells the story of the film 'Meet Pamela,' which shifts between a narrative of a film in production and the techniques of and processes of film making itself. The evening discussion will also approach ideas on what it means to directly reflect the making of a work, the processes involved and what bringing these works together can achieve RSVP to marketing@johnjones.co.uk  Read More

Rosalind Davis

We are delighted to announce Rosalind Davis as the artist exhibiting in Projection, our space for solo shows which aims to increase the exposure of mainly unseen artists as one aspect of their professional development. Rosalind Davis is a mixed media painter and graduate from the RCA, creating melancholy dystopian landscapes that explore human experience and identity. Davis fuses painting, collage and embroidery onto printed floral fabrics, selected for their historical, cultural and symbolic representations. This complex relation between mediums is integral to the piece emphasising the fragility of the spaces depicted and the disconcerting juxtaposition between aesthetics and meaning.  Read More

Artist in Residence - Sarah Kate Wilson

We are delighted to announce Sarah Kate Wilson as our next Artist In Residence at John Jones. Sarah will be working in the entrance space to artists surfaces; her residency will result as a solo show in the Project Space in October 2009. Throughout her residency, Sarah will be available to introduce her work to anyone who is interested in knowing more, as well as to clients and to her peers; we will also be planning artist’s talks and a panel discussion. Sarah Kate Wilson is an Emerging British Abstract Painter. She was born in Grand Cayman, (Cayman Islands) in 1982. She and her family then moved to Saudi Arabia, they then settled in the North of England, and she now lives and practices in London. Wilson studied for a BA Hons in Fine Art at Northumbria University, Newcastle, 2005. Whilst studying she created new work for both Solo and Group Shows in Newcastle and Leeds. Sarah has also been commissioned for private and public pieces of artwork, and projects. She has continued to make large-scale wall paintings’, works on canvas and drawings. She enjoys the use of materials that are ephemeral and relate to contemporary culture. On completion of her Degree she moved to New York (2006), whilst living in New York she made a new series of drawings, which are now directly influencing her current paintings. Wilson is an artist who creates ambitious, overtly pretty and often very demanding works. Her wall paintings’ highlight the desire to place work directly in the ‘Real-World’ and provoke and challenge the way the audience has to think about painting. She currently works in her studio in Hackney and is preparing for a group show in 2008 and a solo show in 2009.
