Contemporary artist Ali Kazim, represented by Green Cardamom Gallery, is set to display a diverse collection of work at Hong Kong Art Fair 2012. The collection includes the artist’s first video, a site specific, large-scale sculptural installation with human hair, his first series of self-portraits in a decade long career, and delicate drawings on Japanese tissue. The artist is best known for his watercolour washes over under-drawings of human figures, creating rich, multi-layered and textured constructions. This is reflected in Kazim’s current work, which uses both sides of the surface to create a dense, layered effect.

John Jones are delighted to have framed the 2D work within this collection using high quality museum level materials and techniques.

Contemporary artist Nici Bungey is set to present her first solo exhibition at SHED in May. The exhibited works have been created over the last two years using spontaneous processes which cannot be repeated. The result is an organic and original collection which immerses viewers into the ambiguous nature of tactile, sculptural patterns. The artist creates intriguing geometric shapes which encourage you to explore your own thoughts, images and memories.

A private view of the collection will take place on 18th May 6-9pm at SHED.

The major 2012 exhibition at London Transport Museum explores the inspiration, history and creativity behind London transport maps. The collection will draw on the Museum’s outstanding map collection, and will showcase previously unseen historic material alongside contemporary artwork. The displays will explore geographical, diagrammatic and decorative transport maps, and their influence both on navigation and on art and design. This collection will use cartography to consider the relationship between identity and place, and how residents of the capital engage with their surroundings.
