Wolfgang Tillmans Chisenhale Edition acrylic box frame
Turner Prize winning artist Wolfgang Tillmans exhibited his first major solo exhibition in London at Chisenhale Gallery in 1997. To help support the highly esteemed gallery’s public programme, Tillmans donated 100 limited edition prints of his famed ‘Paper Drop’ image in 2011 for Chisenhale’s annual edition. The likes of Rachel Whiteread, Camille Henrot and Nick Relph have also produced Chisenhale editions in order to support funding. Tillmans’ limited edition ‘Paper Drop’ image is laser printed on to 130 gsm chamois-coloured drawing paper, and float mounted inside a cardboard box, which is modelled on the original Kodak photographic print box.

John Jones had the opportunity to display edition print 55/100 for a private client. Our talented design consultants chose to sympathetically display the edition in a 3mm optium acrylic box frame. Acrylic boxes are the perfect framing solution for unusual objects such as antiques, clothing and books. The boxes protect items from airborne pollutants and ultra violet light which cause long term damage and discolouration to artworks over extensive periods of exposure. Aesthetically, they also provide a contemporary feel which doesn’t distract from the artwork. A certificate has been secured in a protective sleeve to the backboard of this particular acrylic box frame to authenticate the edition. Additionally, a split batten hanging system has been used to ensure a simple installation and to make sure the work hangs flush to the wall.
