To celebrate both Olympian ideals and the regeneration of much of East London for London 2012, Haringey Council commissioned John Jones client Nicola Green to create an artwork centred on Lord Sebastian Coe. As part of the project, Nicola developed 26 dynamic representations of Olympic athletes, four of which have been used to create a series of limited edition prints. John Jones were delighted to present each print within the unique glowing Quasar Frame™, which is now available to purchase from John Lewis.
These bespoke art frames have been designed and produced by British craftspeople at John Jones, and provide a sensational form of presentation and a metaphor for the light of the Olympic torch. The artwork is produced on a sheet of clear Perspex, mounted in front of a dramatic fluorescent Perspex layer attached to the back of the frame. When hung on display, the frame creates a remarkable halo of light glowing around it without any power supply. The result is a dramatic statement which can transform an interior design either individually or as a series of four framed artworks. The surrounding black frame has been produced using the finest quality lime wood, sprayed with a jet black finish to heighten and maximize this fluorescent coloured glow. The frame is not only an integral part of the artwork, but has also been designed to provide long-term protection.
