Santiago Montoya - Halcyon Gallery
‘The Great Swindle’ is a dramatic solo exhibition of work by Columbian artist Santiago Montoya at Halcyon Gallery. Montoya works with materials such as bank notes and food coupons, questioning our ‘collective ideals and aspirations’ and raising interesting discourse around the use of currency as political propaganda.
Our framing team was delighted to design and produce a bespoke presentation solution for the artist’s work using welded aluminium. Each frame was constructed by hand in our metalwork studios and fine brushed to create a cool, contemporary finish. The decision to frame these artworks in a metallic design further extends themes of value present within the artist’s work and provides a sleek backdrop to the vibrant and seductive colours of the currency on display.
Our framing and installation team collaborated to create a secure cable system which allowed several artworks to be suspended from the gallery ceiling. Each piece has been protected with acid-free framing materials to safeguard the long-term value of the collection.
