Sadler’s Wells Theatre - Donna Huddleston

Globally renowned dance venue Sadler’s Wells commissioned Donna Huddleston to create a large-scale artwork for display in the theatre’s upper foyer. Entitled ‘Witch Dance’, the installation was created in response to an influential piece by modern and expressionist dancer Mary Wigman.

Our artist surfaces team  were delighted to produce nine bespoke aluminium panels for the piece, all hand-made by skilled welding technicians in our north London workshops. Aluminium panels are rigid, lightweight and extremely smooth, making the ideal solution for Donna’s detailed illustration style. Unlike wooden panels, these metallic artwork supports will not warp or deteriorate over time and can be produced to almost any size and shape! Some artists enjoy leaving parts of the aluminium exposed, providing their work with another texture and a contemporary metallic feel.
