London Design Festival Medal

John Jones was delighted to produce the bespoke presentation cases for the 2013 and 2014 London Design Festival Medals, one of the most coveted accolades in British Design! The awards were presented at a prestigious ceremony in Lancaster house across Design Entrepreneur, Emerging Talent and Lifetime Achievement categories.

The unique design of this year’s display case incorporates an innovative hinging system which allows the awards to be easily accessed at any time by the winner, whilst still keeping them safe and protected long-term. Each case comprises of two dark stained walnut frames and a crystal clear Optium acrylic box, hand-made by skilled UK based craftspeople in our London studios. The medals are cradled securely and discreetly on transparent acrylic support stands, creating the impression that the awards are floating mid-air within the cases.

We were delighted to collaborate with jewellery designer Hannah Martin, who designed the stunning medals themselves, to plate the custom made splices for the corners of each box. Each splice perfectly matches the medal in question, adding a unique and luxurious touch to the design. The winners names have been letter pressed in metallic text to match the colour of each medal onto specially cut card by graphic design firm Pentagram, complimenting the overall look and feel of the display case.
