The John Jones design team first met contemporary artist Julie Cockburn in 2010, after she won the John Jones sponsored Salon Art Prize. She has since framed a large collection of work with John Jones, and this exhibition at Flowers Gallery was no exception. ‘Portraits and landscapes’ showcased a selection of the artist’s signature found images which have been embellished through embroidery, paint and reassembling the fragments. This process serves to re-invent forgotten landscapes and faces and bring them into the present day. Each artwork is presented using high quality archival materials including acid-free mount boards, protective frame glazing, a secure hanging system and strong backboards.
"My collages and embroideries are intricate and crafted, and it is important to me that this craftsmanship and attention to detail is echoed in the framing. That's why it is a joy working with John Jones - Tim always gets what my work is about and which framing solutions will complement it." Julie Cockburn
