Jonathan Ellery’s Home

As an artist, art collector and the founder of Browns Design, Jonathan Ellery has a strong creative approach and a particular focus on perfection. We have framed Jonathan's growing collection of works for a number of years, collaborating with his creative vision and advising on frame design and presentation. The work on paper by artist Lawrence Weiner is extremely delicate and creased, so we recommended keeping the artwork in as natural a state as possible, using fully archival Japanese hinges to position the work in its mount. This not only maintains the original character of the work, but also allows the work to ‘breathe’ during subtle changes in temperature and humidity. The work is mounted in a museum mount which is then set back in the frame with spacer fillets, adding depth to the overall piece. A soft transparent white wash has been applied to the timber frame, playing with the subtle delicacy of the work whilst giving a fresh contemporary feel.
