Private Residence - Sloane Square, London
John Jones have recently been commissioned to complete an exciting project which involved our framing, conservation and installation departments. A private client based in Sloane Square brought a large-scale print by abstract British artist Victor Pasmore to John Jones. Our in-house paper conservator Annika Erikson was able to carry out a full condition check, make recommendations and investigate the removal of oil stains on the artwork. Our frame design team then produced an american walnut frame, stained with a deep black finish and waxed to create a sleek and contemporary result. Works on this scale are usually glazed with Perspex, which is a much lighter material than glass. However, the artwork’s proximity to electric lighting meant that the best solution to both protect the print and minimise glare and reflections was to use Museum Standard glass with an in-built Ultra Violet filter. The John Jones installation team hung the artwork using a split batten technique, which involves attaching wooden sub frames to the wall, ideal for installing large and heavy pieces. The final result transformed the room into a beautiful, luxury living space.
