Framing your personal memorabilia
Framing is an excellent way to present and preserve family heir looms and items of personal, sentimental value. The John Jones Marketing Manager fondly recalls how her Grandmother would save and ‘hoard’ mundane items for safe-keeping. This bulb labelled ‘spare refrigerator bulb, 2nd April 1989’ on the envelope serves as a poignant reminder of her Grandmother’s character and personality. The objects were secured into place using a special stitch and hinge solution, designed to hold items of a delicate nature or unusual shape, whilst thick 100% cotton museum fillets ensure the contents of the frame are not rested on by the glazing. The wooden frame has been finished with a delicate cream wash to complement the pale colourings of the envelope and lightbulb, and the entire design solution will ensure the longevity of these personal items. The John Jones frame design has transformed these objects into a work of art that would not look out of place in a contemporary gallery, a modern presentation response for a historical item.
