Framing for Interior Design: Casa Botelho

John Jones were delighted to have worked with client João Botelho, Founder and Creative Director Casa Botelho LTD, in 2015 to frame artworks for a project to redesign their stylish East London Townhouse, providing bespoke frame design for their art collection. This stunning luxury interior design project was featured in Living Etc magazine February Issue, 2016 ‘Urban Luxe’.

João Botelho’s 22 year career in global luxury retail began his journey in sales for a prestigious Brazilian brand in his hometown, Belo Horizonte. With the ambition to explore the world and travel, he decided to move to Europe in 1994, making London his new home. Since then he has worked for Harvey Nichols, Nicole Farhi and Jasper Conran, opening Jasper Conran's flagship Mayfair store in 2004. He joined Donna Karan New York in 2000 and has held several senior positions including, Director of Retail, Senior Director of Retail and Wholesale, and UK Managing Director for both Retail & Wholesale.

João's obsession for homeware and passion for styling led him to discover his desire for interiors. His townhouse was cleverly split into two properties, creating a modern two bedroom apartment in the basement, and a magnificent three storey property with a large new extension, open plan kitchen and diner, double reception and 3 large bedrooms.

During the journey he was able to design furnishings, doors, windows and customise kitchen, TV console, vanity unit, walk-in wardrobe as well as concrete floating shelves and sink, collaborating with Waind Gohil Architects. He built strong relationships with designers, including John Jones, home stores, contractors and architects which all comes together to ensure a smooth journey for his clients in the design of their interiors.

Botelho explains: “Our signature style is recognised by the use of strong lines, neutral colour pallets, together with rich and natural materials that age beautifully, symmetry and optimal use of space and attention to extraordinary detail. We take real pride in "dressing to impress". Dressing your home is just like dressing yourself. From casual and relaxed to classic and formal or dressy and glamorous: the look and feel is your choice, and our goal is to bring that into reality".

John Jones Framing

Each frame for this project was carefully designed to complement the contemporary artwork prints and photography, and the interior decor of the room. John Jones' frame designers produced modern square profile frames in welded brass treated with a chemical process to create a beautiful finish, stained brown then soft-brushed with a cross-hatch finish, alongside soft-sanded wooden frames stained to complement the style and tone of the Casa Botelho design setting. The artworks were protected using the museum standard framing processes and materials, including Optium UV protective glazing, and acid-free mount boards.

As with all home furnishings and accessories, framing can be constructed to further enhance the atmosphere and themes within a space and need not be a last minute add-on to your design. Our team can create framing solutions in virtually any size, shape, colour or finish to meet your individual interior design needs.
