Framed Book Collection

John Jones are often asked to design bespoke framing solutions for 3-dimensional objects such as antiques, sculptures, or personal memorabilia. These display boxes can be made to any size, shape and finish to complement the individual object. In this case, a private client wished to showcase a collection of valuable books including classic novels from English literature such as Oliver Twist and David Copperfield by Charles Dickens.

The client requested that the books be presented open within the frame. Our design team fulfilled this request by using mylar strips to secure the books in place. This transparent fabric allows the open page of the book to be viewed without disruption, and is strong enough to ensure the object is safe and secure within the frame for years to come. Each frame has been designed in a contemporary square profile design to reflect the simple, classic shape of the book itself. Produced using the finest quality wood, and finished with protective ultra violet filtered glazing, these frame designs will protect the delicate pages of the novels from harmful UV rays which can discolour the paper, dust particles and other airborne pollutants. Strong backboards to each frame design have been constructed to take the weight of the books, and protect  them against any knocks or bumps that may occur.

“The whole process was extremely personal and efficient and the finished work is fantastic. The frames are beautifully made and what is most impressive is the way the books are displayed - it lets books speak for themselves.” Private client

The result transforms a collection of memorabilia into an interesting visual display which could sit comfortably in a contemporary art gallery. To discuss frame designs for your own novels, diaries, photo albums or any other portfolios, please contact a member of our team.
