Fabileen and Wegfaltungen - Ink paintings by Peter Jap Lim
Peter Jap Lim’s first exhibition in London displays an imaginative collection of ink paintings that make use of unconventional colour language and forms. The Fabileen series is not bound to any particular time and place, and presents itself with both clarity and complexity in equal measure. Located beyond issues of representation and abstraction, the language remains easy to read and is free from contextual boundaries. The Wegfaltungen collection, inspired by Rorschach tests, was created by folding freshly inked watercolour paper to construct mirrored ink blots that are then manipulated and extended to create unusual landscapes and models. Inspired by both modern western painting and classical Asian calligraphy, Jap Lim has created works that invite the viewer into a game of observation. John Jones was delighted to be the official framer for this exhibition which runs from 9th – 27th June 2011.
