David Wightman - Halcyon Gallery
The John Jones framing team recently worked with Halcyon Gallery to frame the first solo exhibition of work by contemporary artist David Wightman. The 15 new pieces on display in this show bridge genres of landscape and abstraction, exploring issues of artifice and the natural versus the manmade.
Our design team worked with the gallery to select bespoke aluminium frame designs for the exhibition. This choice of material has a cool and contemporary feel which our framing consultants felt would be the ideal aesthetic complement to the artist’s style, choice of colour scheme and subject matter. Our skilled technicians are able to weld bespoke metal frame designs in diverse shapes and sizes, including the circular frames featured in this exhibition.
Artwork conservation is our highest priority, and the materials selected throughout this framing project were chosen to protect the work long-term. Each piece has been mounted by the John Jones artwork presentation team on a 100% pure cotton mount board, a museum level material which does not have the harmful acidic properties of cheap, poor quality frame mounts. The use of ultra violet filtered Perspex glazing will conserve the works from long-term damage and fading cause by both natural and electric light. Our ‘split batten’ hanging mechanism supports the weight of the larger artworks effectively, whilst ensuring they sit flush against the gallery walls.
