Daniel Crouch Rare Books

Daniel Crouch Rare Books is a specialist dealer in antique atlases, maps, plans, sea charts and voyages dating from the fifteenth to the nineteenth centuries. Our team were delighted to design and produce a bespoke presentation solution for a dramatic collection of their work showcased at Masterpiece 2013.

Valuable works on paper of this nature are extremely delicate, and should be mounted sympathetically with conservation grade materials for long-term protection. Each piece has been secured in place onto 100% cotton mount board with museum quality tabs which do not contain any harmful adhesives or acidic products. To bring these stunning works into the 21st century, the collection has been presented within aluminium frame designs, welded by UK based craftspeople in our London metal workshops. The frames have been sprayed to a cool, dark finish and cross hatched by hand with a wire brush for added texture and a crisp, contemporary feel. In order to protect the artworks from the damaging effects of both natural and electric light, each frame features UV filtered Perspex. This material is much lighter than traditional frame glass and will not shatter if broken, making it ideal for artworks which may need to be shipped internationally.
