Damien Hirst and Alexander McQueen Cashmere Scarf
The John Jones team are often asked to design inventive framing solutions for scarfs, shirts and other collectable garments. We have once again had the pleasure of framing a scarf from Alexander McQueen’s exclusive Damien Hirst collaboration for a private client’s collection.
The Forgiveness Circular was produced as part of 30 unique designs to celebrate McQueen’s iconic skull scarves 10th anniversary. The designs have been adapted from Hirst’s Entomology series where butterflies and other specimens are placed onto wet Hammerite paint in symmetrical patterns. The result forms intricate kaleidoscopic patterns that reference the natural world in luxurious silks and cashmeres.
Our experienced team of craftsmen stretched The Forgiveness Circular with wadding over high quality tulip wood stretcher bars which are kiln dried to prevent splitting, and afterwards it was secured in place by our talented seamstress stitches along the edge of the delicate fabric. The stiches have been hidden from view by a 300gsm acid free window mount for a sleek aesthetic in keeping with Hirst’s high quality design. Finally, the scarf was glazed using 5mm UV resistant Perspex to prevent colour deterioration and ensure the longevity of the stunning piece to a museum standard.
