Christie’s - The Ski Sale
John Jones are delighted to be working with Christie’s Auction House to frame several vintage posters for their upcoming auction ‘The Ski Sale’ including a private collection of Swiss Posters. The sale of 245 lots is scheduled to take place on 25th January, 2012 and John Jones have framed works by Emil Cardinaux, Erich Hermes, Roger Broders, Eric de Coulon and Alex Walter Diggelman to the finest Museum Standards. Each artwork has been mounted onto a 100% cotton mount board, and fixed into place using transparent photograph corners. This fixing method allows minimal impact upon the artwork itself, thus conserving these delicate prints long-term. The simple square profile wooden frame designs have been soft sanded and finished with a delicate cream wash, heightening the bold block colourings of these vintage posters. Each frame has been protected with ultra violet filtered Perspex glazing, a lighter material than glass which is ideal for large-scale works.
`We are delighted to be working with John Jones for the framing of our important pieces in The Ski Sale here at Christie’s South Kensington. The John Jones frames certainly elevate the posters from advertising images to works of art in themselves. From previous experience, and from monitoring feedback from our clients, I would suggest that without a doubt museum quality framing can enhance the level of bidding on lots’ Nicolette Tomkinson, Christie's
