BISCHOFF/WEISS - Maya Hewitt
Our design team were pleased to custom frame a series of ink drawings for display in ‘Territorial Shadows’, an exhibition of work by Maya Hewitt at BISCHOFF/WEISS gallery. The works transformed the gallery space into an ‘absorbing theatre’ of figures, multiple narratives and human interaction, with each piece presenting a richly detailed scene riddled with ‘anatomical, pathological and zoological specimens obsessively detailed and ordered’.
Each drawing has been secured to a small platform above a 100% pure cotton mount board. Cut smaller than the size of the artwork, this platform gives the illusion that the drawing is floating within the frame! The frames themselves have been cut from the finest quality maple wood, stained and waxed in a delicate grey / brown finish. The final touch is a layer of ultra violet light filtered glazing which will provide these delicate drawings with long-term protection from damaging light rays, dust and airborne pollutants. When framing artworks on paper, it is crucial to use acid-free materials which will not cause the works to yellow and degrade over time. All of our frames are produced to an archival museum standard.
